I don't know what else to say except to expect a comeback album soon.

I knew he would be found not guilty. The people bringing the charges were just too shady and had extorted other celebrities for money. There was no way the jury was going to believe them over the guy who made "Thriller".

Mike is another big influence on me and I'm not ashamed to admit it. "Billie Jean" is my jam and
"Man in the Mirror" is one of my favorite songs ever.

And personally, I really don't think he did it.

I write this with great excitement in my heart, At long last i'm finally quitting this shitty band. I'm starting a new band that reflects my new outlook on life.

I'm starting a new project, It's going to be nothing but screaming and blast beats and lyrics that are hurtful and offensive. Ever since we started this band I've tried to learn as much as I can about the music business. I've done everything I can to try to understand what it is that seperates the people who accomplish their goals (whatever those may be, from getting signed to just having a solid regional fanbase) from the people who get burnt out and give-up.

My conclusion?

You have to be really stubborn and patient. The overnight success is a myth.
You also have to have good music and an ability to connect with people.

Without that second part, noting you do will matter.

God Hates Full-Tilt

Today, thursday march 10th, will be recorded as the day that god fucked our shit up hard.

Today, we were supposed to play a show at a little place in indianapolis called dick's bar-b-q at 8:00 p.m.

Today is also the day that I have my public speaking class and I have to give a speech today. no big deal, I'm supposed to go first, do my little 6 minute shpiel, leave at 6:06, quick jaunt over to zack's apartment to pick him up. and we're on our way in plenty of time to make it to indianapolis by 8:00.

Well then I lock my keys in my van at 5:30. I spend the next 20 minutes on the phone with triple AAA trying to get the lady to understand me and get someone over to unlock the car. It'll take them somewhere between 15 minutes to an hour to get someone there to unlock it.

Fuck.

I go and give my speech, Call dale to see if he can get the spare set of keys from my house in scottsburg, Which is 30 mins. away from Ius. So at about 6:45, 40 mins. later than intended, I head over to zack's apartment to get him. We leave New Albany, which is 2 hours from indianapolis at 7:00 in order to be in Indy at 8:00. so you know what that means. Serious speeding time. If you see a maroon van with guitar amps doing 85 on the interstate there's only one thing to say. "Ph3@r d15 l337 v4"

Quick stop at my house to get the guitar amps. quick stop at the hospital for zack to get something from his mom. We finally get on the highway at scottsburg in earnest at around 7:30. scottsburg is an hour and a half away from indianapolis. We need to be there at 8:00. Yeah. I don't even have to say it. But I will anyway. "Ph3@r d15 l337 v4".

So we're finally on the interstate and seriously abusing the engine on this Van that already has 195,000 miles on it. When, to quote that crippled guy from that movie with the retard with the chocolates "God showed up".

Now Indiana's not a small state, I mean we're no north dakota or anything, but we've got a good 7 hours of strait driving from north to south and 3 hours east to west. now in all this semi-big state, where does it drop 2 inches of snow in an hour and a half?In columbus, In our way. In less than 2 miles I went from perfect visibility and doing 85 miles an hour to 35 miles an hour and constantly hitting the rumble stip becase I can't see the lanes.

At that point we yelled "NO MAS" and said "fuck it" and pulled over at the nearest exit to turn around and go home. So we call dick's to tell jason and mark (who had been waiting for us to show up for around 2 hours with no word) that we weren't coming and to just go ahead and start coming home. We go into this gas-station to get some drinks and use the bathroom. We're in there for no more than 3 minutes. When we go to leave guess what's not there.

THE FUCKING SNOW! IT STOPPED SNOWING COMPLETLY IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES!

And since Mark and Jason don't have a cell phone with them. We can't call them to tell them to stay put because we can make it after all.

Now, When we left that gas station. Mark was in Indy, an hour and 15 minutes from his
house. I was in Columbus, about 50 minutes from New albany where this whole shit pile got started. I did 85 all the way back. it took me maybe 50 minutes to get home after stopping in new albany and driving back to scottsburg.

When I get home, Guess who was already home? This is the phone conversation I had with mark

me: "hey dude. sorry about all the bullshit tonight"
MArk: "It's cool. I was just calingl to make sure you are alright"
me: "hey wait a minute. how the fuck are you home already"
Mark: "We just drove home. I don't know"
me: "You must have been flying in order to beat me home"
Total Ass: "No. I was doing 70 the whole time"
me: *slams head in fridge door repeatedly*

It's a been a little bit since my last post.
So I'm overdue to talk to you guys about what's been going with us.

INDIANAPOLIS

First off, Indianapolis has some funny as shit bandnames.
I was up at the vogue theater this past thursday night to draw our date for the
2005 BENCHMARK BATTLE OF THE BANDS and some of the band names this year were just great.

For example:
Karate Explosion
Mr. Miyagi
Turtlehead
Free Smut
Bunny Wabbit and the Wock and Woll Pwayboys

And in a particularly cruel twist of fate: "Greg-o-rama" and "O-rama" will be battling on the same night.

So anyway, If your over 21 come check us out on Wed. April 27th.

And if you aren't doing anything this thursday, Come check us out at dick's bodacious bar-b-q right next to the vogue theater in Broad Ripple Village.

TERRE HAUTE

We will be playing in Terre Haute, In at the 4th quarter on Friday April 29th.

St. Louis Recap

Well where do we begin?

We played in St. Louis this past saturday at a place called "The Ten Mile House".
The place was kind of a sports bar on the southern outskirts of St. Louis.

Unbeknownst to us the St. Louis Rams were playing a playoff game against the Atlanta Falcons.

We had to wait until the game was finished before we could play and so during the interal that we were waiting we enjoyed a few free beers from the bar. Jason got a quite a strong buzz going.

His first words on the mic (after the rams lost mind you) were:

"So the rams lost tonight. That sucks doesn't it. Doesn't that suck? Here's our first song........"

I thought for sure that we were going to have beer bottles pelted at us and have to run out of the place, BUT, we ended up going over extremely well with the crowd.

You see, for whatever reason, despite the fact that the place was a sportsbar it was a pretty even mix between people who were there to see the game and people who were there to see the bands.

For the second gig in a row we experienced the "Drunk guy on stage giving you props" phenomenon. Two guys that just absolutley loved us for one reason or another had to get on-stage and snatch the mic from Jason and tell everyone "Southern Indiana BITCHES! Represent!"

Man what an evening.

The worst part of the trip was when the bitch at the hotel counter stopped me and dale from getting some continental breakfast because apparently (even though there was no sign, I looked) Breakfast in St. Louis ends at 9:30 in the morning.

Road Tripping

Hey,

Tomorrow we are supposed to be heading out for a road gig in St. Louis.
Should be fun. But the weather looks like it might be a little bit shitty so we might be having to call that one off.

We're supposed to be playing a place called the "Ten Mile House" on the northern outskirts of St. Louis thanks to some cool guys we might the last time we played there in July called "Essence Of Logic". Pretty cool guys with a good sound going for them.

But anyway, we're all looking forward to this because the last road trip we took to Nashville was a lot of fun. We played this place called "The Runway" which was quite literally at the end of a runway by the airport. It was a good experience to get out and about and play somewhere besides the Louisville Area.

Hopefully mother nature won't steal another roadtrip out from under us.

Last night, Dale and I were gathered around the XM radio demo unit at Wal-Mart Listenting to XM radio's channel 52 - unsigned. It was an exciting thing. Hearing your music being played nationwide.

I mean come on! DOZENS of people nationwide were listening to us!

I tried to tell the lady at electronics that "Hey MY band is on the radio!" and she just smiled and nodded as if to say "Oh sure. Your band is on the radio. right"

It was quite hilarious actually.

Well 2004 is damn near over, "Pert neer done" as some proper English challenged people would say it, and it was a good year for us.

We played to hundreds of people, made hundreds of fans, released a CD that we are extremely proud of, developed one of the sickest and most talked about live shows in the area, and lastly, made new friends and family out of all of you.

So, with that in mind, for 2005, we plan to take the foundation that we laid this year and take it one step further.

A Great night.......

yesterday night was probably one of the funnest gigs we've played in a long time.

Big thanks to Evan Newton for putting us on the show.

It was sad to see a great band like redboxnow call it quits but things have to change. That's the nature of life. All things end and from endings come new beginnings.

I won't bore you with a detailed review of the show so here are my highlights.

Xr900 - just go to xr900.com and see for yourself. this is some of the most hilarious stuff that has ever been released. go now. xr900.com

Cliche suicide plot - Fantastic energy and musicianship.

1956 - These guys are fantastic and it says something that kids from 6 hours away are coming to a city park shelter house to see them. These guys drove all the way from Milwaulkee to play (for the third time). That says alot about them. Hardworking and awesome musicians.

30mpn - I'm glad that these guys are going to continue in some fashion. Passion is something that's sorely lacking in music today and it's also something that these guys have in spades.

Redboxnow - Although these guys are in a genre that i normally wouldn't listen to, there's no denying talent and last night they showed it. With two new bands coming from the remains of this band it is certain that this talent will not go to waste.

A lot of people crack on us because we have a concept about how to market a band. We've taken shit from people because I've read marketing books. (note that I am the only one in the band who has spent any amount of money researching and reading into marketing)

Does this make us sell-outs? Does knowing how to grow a fanbase and mobilize them make us sell-outs?

Alot of people think that any attepmt to learn about and embrace the business side of music (because yes, if you are serious about taking your band anywhere there is a business side to it) automatically turns everything you do into an attempt to make money with no real soul behind it.

Here are two of the books I've read on marketing.

Where does Full-Tilt come from?

When we were forming, the worst arguments would come over what to name the band.

We all had what we thought were fantastic ideas.

For my part, I wanted to to name the band "Water" (if you really want to know why then leave a comment and I'll explain)

Everybody had a bunch of names and we were going back and forth until one day we were sitting in my house before a practice, going over this debate for the 486,098,807 time and then, just to get it over with, we decided to pick two objects that were around us.

Those two objects ended up being Zack's "Full-Tilt" snowboarding hat and Zack's car, a "Mirage".

We ended up going back and forth on those two, making up logos, checking domain name availability, etc.. etc..

I'll say that Dale and myself wanted to name the band "Mirage", (and my "Mirage" logo was way cooler than Dale's "Full-Tilt" logo)but, we eventually just put it to a vote and Zack, Jason, and Mark voted for Full-Tilt.

That's the good thing about being a 5 piece band, when you put stuff to a vote, you don't get a tie.

And so it was that we became "Full-Tilt", the band you know and love today.

Here are a few bands and albums that I recommend you check out.

First off is 311's Greatest hits.

I owe so much to this band that it is just flat out stupid. My drumming, My songwriting, My outlook on life.....

This is the band that made me want to play music. This is the band that made me pick up a bass guitar when I was a freshman in high school. This is the band that has helped me through everything in my life.

I love the fact that they've kept up with a message of positivity and unity throughout their career. So many bands take the easy way out today and try to appeal to peoples anger and agression. 311 tries to appeal to what is best in all of us. They try to help us see the world in a different light and understanding.

To me, music can have no higher accomplishment than making people feel uplifted and happy. Call me naieve, and you will, but I don't care. I'm a naieve optimist.

I will feel very fortunate if Full-Tilt can affect people in the ways that this band has affected me

And then there is Dream Theater - Scenes From a Memory.

There isn't Much to say about Dream Theater other than "WOW"

You'll be listening to this and thinking "Is that possible on a guitar?" "I didn't know a drumset could do that!

This is an album that you listen to to be inspired, as a musician, to strive to better yourself on your respective instrument, and as a drummer, you can do no better than mike portnoy for inspiration.

There are other Dream Theater albums that feature even more musicianship than this one but if you've never experienced Dream Theater before then this is the one to cut your teeth on.

No CCHS show. (for now)

Well I just got the offical word from the CCHS administration today which was, "Nothing doing until after the first of the year". (well you know, not in those exact words. They said it much more proffesionally than that. As you would expect from high school office staff)

But we aren't going to wait that long to play in that area again, it's already been close to a year. We are exploring other options like having it in corydon somewhere or somewhere else that is reasonably close. Surely to god there is a Knights of Columbus or a V.F.W. somewhere in the area.

I can promise you that we WILL be playing somewhere in the Crawford County area before the end of the year.

I was just looking at the traffic analysis for our website Fulltiltrock.com, and I noticed something very strange. We've been averaging over 700 unige visitors per month since the site opened back in december of last year.

We're coming up on the one year anniversary of fulltiltrock.com and the only reason I can think of for this fantastic website traffic is, you, the fans, making it happen.

You've obviously been out there telling people about the music and the positive message and it's working because we're growing and expaning and it's all thanks to you.

Hey, We in full-tilt have several shows in the planning for both louisville and southern indiana right now.

We hope to have all the details worked out before the end of next week for you guys so that we can let you know in plenty of time to make plans to attend.

We're planning a huge multi-player halo 2 lan party and concert for here in scottsburg.

We're planning a cd release show to be held at crawford county high school.

We're planning another show at bulldog's cafe in louisville.

[rant]I won't deny that the music industry is kind of fucked up right now. Clear Channel, Consolidation, Mtv, The dumbing down of pop music....

All these things are real and valid and they exist and they should be dealt with.

However, I'm sick to my damn stomache of people complaining about The radio and Mtv and all this other stuff.

Let me explain, I've always believed that bitching is useless. It only serves to pump yourself up and make you feel better about yourself. It doesn't change anything. Go ahead and complain to your friends about the fact that Lil' jon is ruining things. Think Good Charlotte sucks? How about Darrel Woerly crapping it up with his pro-america bull-shit.

Well these are all valid opinions. I'm not the one to tell you what is valid music and isn't. Everything holds some validity to almost anyone

Here's my problem. - DON'T BITCH IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO DO ANYTHING TO MAKE IT BETTER -

My band was started with the philosophy that hard work and determination can overcome anything. You see this in our approach to music, promotion, life, hell everything we do. I don't believe in sitting around complaining about the problem. I believe in getting out there and busting your ass and doing something about it.[/rant]

Cd Release show

Just letting you know that right now we are working on organizing a cd release at crawford county high school.

Date is not set yet. but we hope to have it before the end of November.

Bands we'd like to get on the show are Crimson Dust
Sirreal and maybe mile 7.

We want to make this a special event so we are going to be putting alot of stuff out there as an appreciation for all that you fans have done for us.
